  • We can customize the length of rope in any cut bundle and would be happy to help you with your ideas. Please call us at 828-372-7024 for assistance over the phone.

  • We love hearing your special requests! Contact us with information about your custom basket - color, size, and shape. We’ll get back to you typically within 1-2 business days with a quote and a timeframe.

  • Every Mountain Thread Co. kit contains rope, a 100/16 denim needle, and step by step instructions with detailed illustrations for your project. You need to supply your own sewing machine, a high quality thread, scissors, and pins. Fabric scraps are optional, but so fun to revisit with MTC kit projects!

  • United States (including Alaska, Hawaii, and Military Bases): $8 Flat Rate

    International Shipments (see “Do you ship outside the US?” below for more information): $20 Flat Rate

  • Yes. We offer flat rate shipping options to:

    • Canada
    • the United Kingdom

    Contact us for custom shipping rates to other countries.

  • If your order has shipped, it is not possible to add to your order. If it has not yet shipped, please call the store for assistance.

  • When an order is marked as “fulfilled” in our system, we send you a shipping notification email with carrier and tracking details. Check your inbox or other folders for this email for information related to tracking. If you have additional questions, please contact us.

  • Please see the Shipping & Returns page for details about returning items.

  • Of course! Just use the “Guest Checkout” feature when checking out.

  • Worry not! Just go to the account login page and click “Forgot Password”. This will send you an email with and link steps to reset your password. Please be aware that these links are only good for 24 hours.

  • Yes, you can update your email address at any time. Simply log into your account and update from there. You cannot change your email address without first being logged in.

  • Yes you can! Large rope orders qualify for bulk rate discounts. You will need a Wholesale Account for bulk orders. To that you will need to fill out our Wholesale application to create an account. Thanks for your interest!

  • Fret not fellow crafter! Simply call or email us, and any of our staff would be happy to walk you through troubleshooting, answer any questions you have, and give recommendations.

Wholesale FAQs

  • Of course! We’re always happy to see our customers in-store. By default, we operate under the assumption that orders are shipped out. However, if you need to stop by for your order pick-up, just let us know in the order notes.

  • Depends on what you want to do with it! You can make a number of different kinds of products with our 3/16” rope:

    • 10yd bundles are especially great for people who want to just try out the product;

    • 20 yard bundles are great companions to the kits—enough to do another project plus a little extra.

    • If you have customers that do a bit of rope sewing, the spoolette is a nice in between size. With the spoolette, you can make about half the projects in our rope sewing book.

    • If you teach a lot of classes, purchasing a spool and cutting it down to your needs would be the most cost effective option.

  • You are welcome to reach out with a request or suggestion, but typically the answer is no on special orders.

  • There is a bit of a difference between the popularity of our cut lengths vs spoolettes, but typically, our most popular colors are:

    • Black, Red, Navy, Pale Sage, and Seafoam

  • No. Our colorful rope is about 89% cotton, 20% polyester

  • We offer business-to-business wholesale accounts. It’s pretty quick and easy. To set up a Wholesale account with us please our Wholesale page to fill out the initial application. Things you need with your to open an account:

    • You will need to share your company’s web address

    • Your Resale license number

    • A file or picture of your state tax resale license, tax exemption, or certificate of exemption

    • and other applicable Company details

  • There are no minimums for specific products, just an overall order value amount.

    • If it is your initial wholesale purchase with us, the opening order is $300, plus calculated shipping

    • If you have completed your first wholesale order with us before, the reorder requirement is $150 per order, plus calculated shipping.

  • All shipping is calculated during the draft order process. Shipping costs will be added to your order invoice after your order has been packed. Things to remember:

    • Shipping costs do not count towards order minimums

    • We do offer shipping discounts throughout the year, so make sure you’re subscribed to our email alerts

    • We ship out orders within 2 business days of payment (typically, they are sent out the day of payment)

  • Because you are now able to order directly through the website you can also pay directly through your online account! We will send you an email with a link to pay via credit card or ACH when the invoice is ready.

    Of course we are still available to take your payments over the phone and you can still mail us a check if you prefer.
